Kering Eyewear Sees Rise in Revenue for First Half of 2024, While Total Kering Group Revenue Falls

PARIS—Kering Eyewear, part of the global luxury group Kering, has reported revenue of €914 million in the first half of 2024, up 5 percent as reported and up 6 percent on a comparable basis. In the second quarter, Kering Eyewear's sales rose by 3 percent both on a comparable basis and as reported, driven by solid progression of the brands in its portfolio, the Group said. Overall, revenue from the Kering Eyewear and Corporate segment amounted to €1.1 billion for the first half of 2024, mainly attributable to activities of Kering Eyewear and Kering Beauté, the latter including the sales of Creed. Kering Group reported total revenue at €9.0 billion for the first half of 2024, down 11 percent both as reported and on a comparable basis. In the second quarter of 2024, revenue totaled €4.5 billion, also down 11 percent as reported and on a comparable basis. The decline in revenue as reported includes a negative currency effect of 1 percent and a positive scope effect of 1 percent from the consolidation of Creed, the Group stated.

Bausch + Lomb Acquires Diagnostic Company Trukera Medical

VAUGHAN, Ontario—Global eye health company Bausch + Lomb Corporation (NYSE/TSX: BLCO) announced yesterday that an affiliate has acquired Trukera Medical from its private equity owner, AccelMed Partners, and other shareholders. Bausch + Lomb indicated that the acquisition will expand its surgical presence in the United States and contribute to its position in the field of dry eye. A U.S.-based privately held ophthalmic medical diagnostic company, Trukera Medical commercializes the ScoutPro Osmolarity System, an automated device intended to quantitatively measure the osmolarity of human tears to aid in the diagnosis of dry eye disease (DED) in conjunction with other methods of clinical evaluation. Hyperosmolarity, a condition that is not detectable by slit lamp examination, is a leading indicator and central etiology of asymptomatic DED and ocular surface disease (OSD), the company emphasized; this can negatively affect corneal, cataract and refractive surgery outcomes if not treated effectively prior to the procedure.

Silmo Names Alexis Mabille Chairman of 2024 Silmo d’Or Awards

PARIS—Silmo has named fashion designer Alexis Mabille as chairman of the 2024 Silmo d’Or Awards, according to an announcement from Silmo. From Lyon, France, Mabille graduated in 1997 from the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture Parisienne before working with major Parisian fashion houses, according to Silmo. He established his eponymous brand in 2005, which includes men's and women's ready-to-wear, accessory and tailored collections; Mabille is most famous for his iconic bow tie designs, and has been on the official calendar of Haute Couture since 2021, the announcement said.

Topcon and Orbis International Collaborate to Expand Diabetic Retinopathy Screening in Rwanda

OAKLAND, N.J.—Topcon Healthcare, a provider of medical devices and software solutions for the global eyecare community, announced that it has joined forces with Orbis International, a global nonprofit organization delivering sight-saving programs in more than 200 countries and territories, and the Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology (RIIO), to expand diabetic retinopathy screening in Rwanda. The company also shared that it has donated NW400 and NW500 robotic retinal cameras for use in diabetic retinopathy screenings for patients with diabetes in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
